DETAIL RESULTS
The detail results for the Blackpool Dance Festival are now available

TORNSBERG
RETIRES
After 15 years of competitive dancing, Allan Tornsberg announced
his retirement from his competitive career after the Professional
Latin Finals. Upon the announcement Allan received a standing ovation
from the audience. In gratitude to the audience's appreciation and
support, Allan performed his last rumba as a competitor in Blackpool's
Winter Garden. His partner, Serena Lecca Danza however will
continue her competitive carreer.
HAAPALAINEN
& SUUTARI WINS PROFESSIONAL LATIN BLACKPOOL CHAMPIONSHIP
Jukka Haapalainen & Sirpa Suutari retakes the 2001 British
Professional Latin Championship from Bryan Watson and Carmen
by winning three of the five dances. For more details, please visit

NEW BLACKPOOL
AMATEUR LATIN CHAMPION CROWNED
Since
last year's Champions have split up and turned professional, this
year's Championship title was up for grabs. Andrej Skufca &
Katarina Venturini became the Champion by coming first in four
of the five dances. For further results please see our Blackpool
pages.
Another interesting fact to note is that two couples from Asia manage
to qualify into the first round after dancing the first two qualifying
rounds. They are Alan & Irene Young from Hong Kong and
Takafumi Osaka & Yukiko Sasaki from Japan.

As you are all aware, the Blackpool Dance Festival is drawing
near. This year, we are sending our own reporter to Blackpool who
is dedicated to bring you first hand results and news about the

In order to encourage and facilitate our visitors to interact with
each other, we have newly created the "Dancer's
Corner" - a place where you can exchange ideas and comments
on all kinds of dance related topics, whether it is about the technicality
of a dance step, finding a partner, debating on a hot topic or even
gossips of the dance community. Come and join us now.
SINGAPORE
IDSF OPEN RESULTS
The results for the 2nd ADSA Singapore Open DanceSport Championships
(IDSF Open World Ranking
Tournament) are now available at our results
page. Jacky Lin & Tina Liu from Chinese Taipei came fifth
in the IDSF Latin Open category. Hong Kong's Alan & Irene
Young came in 10th place. Stephen So & Connie Cheng
(Hong Kong) also got into the semi-final of the IDSF Standard category
and came 13th. Also congratulations to Roger Kwa & Marion
Mou from Singapore who came 6th in the final of the Latin section.
For those who have missed being there to witness the Championships,
we have good news. You can log on to Singtel Magix Broadband service
to view the delayed webcast of the entire event sometime in the
near future. Once the date is finalised, we will inform you here.
2nd ADSA
Singapore Open DanceSport Championships (IDSF Open World Ranking
Tournament) will be held on Saturday, 14 April 2001 at the Toa
Payoh Sports Hall. The following are the competitors from Greater

(Hong Kong ), Nelson Lee & Angie Bup (Hong Kong), Bill
Chan & Pat Chan (Hong Kong). Also competing at Andrej Skufca
& Katarina Venturini from Slovenia, Joshua Keefe & Daniella
Miller from Australia and Kazuki Sugaya & Ikuyo Ozaki

WORLD
GAMES AT AKITA
The DanceSport competition, an official Medal Sport at the Games,
will be held on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th in
the Municipal Gymnasium in Akita. The confirmed list of athletes
that will participate in the 2001
World Games held in Akita has been published by IDSF Press Secretary.
